Judgement
小往大来，吉，亨。
The small departs, the great comes: good fortune and success.
The Image
天地交，泰。后以财成天地之道，辅相天地之宜，以左右民。
Heaven and earth commune: peace. The ruler orders the way of heaven and earth, aids the people, and gives help from heaven and earth.
The Lines
拔茅茹，以其汇，征吉。
Pull up the couch-grass by the roots with their kind; to go is auspicious.
“拔茅”“征吉”，志在外也。
Pulling the couch-grass is auspicious: the will is outward.
包荒，用冯河，不遐遗；朋亡，得尚于中行。
Bear the waste, ford the river; do not leave the far behind; forget friends in the march — then meet the middle way’s honour.
“包荒”，“得尚于中行”，以光大也。
Bearing the waste and honouring the middle way: it grows bright.
无平不陂，无往不复；艰贞无咎，勿恤其孚，于食有福。
No plain without its slope, no going without return. In hardship be steadfast: no blame. Do not doubt your sincerity; in eating there is fortune.
“无往不复”，天地际也。
No going without return: heaven and earth meet.
翩翩，不富，以其邻，不戒以孚。
Fluttering down, not rich, with his neighbours — unguarded yet sincere.
“翩翩，不富”，皆失实也。“不戒以孚”，中心愿也。
Fluttering down, not rich: all lose substance. Unguarded yet sincere: the heart’s wish.
帝乙归妹，以祉元吉。
Lord Yi gives his daughter in marriage; blessing brings supreme good fortune.
“以祉元吉”，中以行愿也。
Blessing brings supreme good fortune: the middle carries out the wish.
城复于隍，勿用师，自邑告命，贞吝。
The city wall falls back into the moat. Do not use the army; from your own town, proclaim the command. Steadfastness is pitiable.
“城复于隍”，其命乱也。
The wall falls into the moat: the command is disordered.
Reading
天地相交——在上者下降，在下者上升。通不是静止，是两者之间的往来跑得顺畅。卦辞提醒：每一番通泰都自带结局，而结局始于往来停止之时。
