Judgement
元亨，利贞，无咎。
Sublime success, furthered by steadfastness; no blame.

泽中有雷，随。君子以向晦入宴息。
Thunder within the lake: following. So the superior man goes home at dusk to rest.
The Lines
官有渝，贞吉；出门交有功。
The office changes; steadfastness is auspicious. Going out the gate to mix with others brings merit.
“官有渝”，从正“吉”也；“出门交有功”，不失也。
The office changes: following right is auspicious. Mixing with others brings merit: nothing is lost.
系小子，失丈夫。
Tying the young one, one loses the grown man.
“系小子”，弗兼与也。
Tying the young one: the two cannot be had together.
系丈夫，失小子；随有求得，利居贞。
Tying the grown man, one loses the young one. In following there is gain; it furthers to stay steadfast.
“系丈夫”，志舍下也。
Tying the grown man: the will sets the lower aside.
随有获，贞凶；有孚在道，以明，何咎？
Following brings gain; steadfastness is ill. Sincerity on the way makes it clear — what blame?
“随有获”，其义“凶”也；“有孚在道”，明功也。

孚于嘉，吉。
Sincerity in the good. Good fortune.
“孚于嘉，吉”，位正中也。
Sincerity in the good, good fortune: the place is central and right.
拘系之，乃从维之；王用亨于西山。
He is bound and held, then kept so. The king offers at the western mountain.
“拘系之”，上穷也。
