Judgement
元亨，用见大人，勿恤。南征吉。
Sublime success. It furthers one to see the great man; do not grieve. A southern campaign is auspicious.
The Image
地中生木，升。君子以顺德，积小以高大。
Within the earth, wood grows: pushing upward. So the superior man, following virtue, accumulates the small to reach the high.
The Lines
允升，大吉。
Sincere rising; supreme good fortune.
“允升，大吉”，上合志也。
Sincere rising, supreme good fortune: the will joins above.
孚乃利用禴，无咎。
Sincerity makes the small offering useful; no blame.
九二之“孚”，有喜也。
The second’s sincerity: cause for joy.
升虚邑。
Rising into the empty city.
“升虚邑”，无所疑也。
Rising into the empty city: nothing is doubted.
王用亨于岐山，吉无咎。
The king offers at Mount Qi. Good fortune; no blame.
“王用亨于岐山”，顺事也。
The king offers at Mount Qi: he serves in obedience.
贞吉，升阶。
Steadfastness is auspicious; ascending the steps.
“贞吉，升阶”，大得志也。
Steadfastness, ascending the steps: his will is greatly attained.
冥升，利于不息之贞。
Blind rising; it furthers to be steadfast without rest.
“冥升在上”，消不富也。
Blind rising at the top: it wanes, not enriched.

木自地出：一圈一轮地向上。经文给上升分了级——以其升升，见大而不惊。这种速度的长，不需要辩；只需要不被中断。
