Judgement
亨，君子有终。
Success. The superior man has an ending.
The Image
地中有山，谦。君子以裒多益寡，称物平施。
Within the earth a mountain: modesty. So the superior man lessens the many and adds to the few, weighing things with fairness.
The Lines
谦谦君子，用涉大川，吉。
Modest and modest, the superior man; to cross the great water is auspicious.
“谦谦君子”，卑以自牧也。
The modest and modest superior man: he keeps himself low to nurture himself.
鸣谦，贞吉。
Modesty that resounds; steadfastness is auspicious.
“鸣谦，贞吉”，中心得也。
Resounding modesty, steadfastness auspicious: the heart is content.
劳谦，君子有终，吉。
Meritorious modesty: the superior man has an ending. Good fortune.
“劳谦君子”，万民服也。
The meritorious modest superior man: all people submit.
无不利，撝谦。
Nothing unfurthered; he displays his modesty.
“无不利，撝谦”，不违则也。
Nothing unfurthered in displayed modesty: he does not break the rule.
不富以其邻，利用侵伐，无不利。
Not enriching with his neighbours; it furthers to attack and chastise. Nothing unfurthered.
“利用侵伐”，征不服也。
It furthers to attack and chastise: he punishes the disobedient.
鸣谦，利用行师，征邑国。
Modesty that resounds; it furthers to move the army and chastise the town and state.
“鸣谦”，志未得也；可“用行师”，“征邑国”也。
Resounding modesty: the will is not yet attained; he may move the army and chastise the town and state.

山藏在地中：看得见的是原野，重量在下。此卦的谦不是姿态，是结构——山确实在那里，只是不摆出来。卦辞：天地尚且自居低下，而万物都跟着。
