Chapter 64
Be Careful to the End as at the Beginning
The Text
A tower nine storeys high begins with a single basket of earth. A journey of a thousand li begins beneath one’s feet. Be as careful at the end as at the beginning, and you will not fail.
Reading it
The most practical line in the book. Almost every failure in ordinary work happens in the last ten percent, when the outcome seems assured.
Practice for the week
Take the thing you are nearly finished with. Give it the care of the first day.
